Betties' Pattern Swap

January 21, 2015

I'm feeling quite accomplished this week -- I've already finished Harbor's Easter skirt! I'm always the one to procrastinate until just a few hours before an outfit is needed to get it done. Not this time though! Thanks to the pattern swap I signed up for last month, I was able to get ahead on a holiday outfit, yay! The pattern swap is going on all this week, so make sure to check out the other blogs at the end of this post.

I was paired up with Jen of Koda Baby. I chose her Koda Bustle Skirt and I'm more than happy with the result...I mean look how gorgeous it is! I've been hoarding this beautiful Art Gallery fabric by BariJ and this project was finally worthy enough to cut into it (so awesome when that happens!).

There are so many details about this pattern that I love. When I first saw the Koda Bustle skirt, the big bow caught my attention and I fell in love...it's just way too cute!

If you haven't noticed yet from the patterns I have designed...I'm pretty obsessed with lace and trims! So of course this pattern was perfect for me to try. Jen gives you instructions for using edging and also for making your own ruffles. I went with this lace trim since I had the perfect amount in my stash and it was pre-ruffled...win-win!

Last but not least I adore the sweet peek-a-boo ruffle in the front. It's the perfect detail for the front of this skirt and makes for a very cohesive design.

According to the pattern's size chart, Harbor is size 2T for her waist but 3T for height. Since I had planned to use the ruffled lace and it was just a bit longer than the suggested edging in the pattern, I went ahead with the size 2T and it was a perfect fit! The pattern is very well written and easy to follow, if your girl loves ruffles this pattern is a must have. You can pick up the pattern over in the Koda Baby Etsy shop.

Now she needs an adorable handmade top to go with her Koda Bustle Easter skirt. I'm thinking a light pink Soho Top...looks like I have the motivation I needed to get the blog post up for the Soho Top tutorial :)

xoxo,

Mandalynn
